How Our Review Process Works

Every title we cover passes through three stages. First, an editor logs at least eight hours of play time across the major modes — campaign, PvP, sandbox, or story — to establish baseline gameplay impressions. Second, a second reviewer cross-references aggregate user ratings, recent update cadence, and active player counts to validate or challenge the editorial score. Third, the final score combines our internal five-factor rubric with verified user data, weighted to penalize abandoned projects and reward sustained content updates.

Reviews are refreshed quarterly. A title that drops out of active development moves down the ranking automatically. A title that ships major content updates moves up. The list reflects current quality, not historical favorites.

Five-Factor Rubric Explained

• Gameplay depth — does the game ask you to make meaningful decisions, or is it click-through dialogue?
• Art & animation quality — judged on consistency across the full roster, not a single hero scene.
• Character variety — number and mechanical distinctness of characters, not palette swaps.
• Replay value — branching outcomes, post-completion content, live-service cadence.
• Community health — active player count, update cadence, twelve-month outlook.

What We Will Not Review

We exclude any title that hides core game content behind permanent paywalls, fails baseline character-age and consent standards, or has shipped no meaningful updates in the prior six months. We also exclude titles where the developer has gone silent — a game with no support is not a recommendation we want to make.
